With Constance, after Season 1, she used her mind to destroy a machine. At the same time, that empathy is his superpower and is one of the ways they are going to end up solving these puzzles and finding their mentor, Mr. He's writing letters to everybody, and he is not getting letters back. Reynie, his empathy has gotten in the way, and he's become a little needy. He still has anxiety, but he's slightly calmer, which will help him solve these puzzles. He's actually become more comfortable in his own skin. He finally got to experience it, so his knowledge is even more vast. Sticky has spent a year at the Boatwright Academy, which was his dream in the pilot. The big lesson from Season 1, at least for Kate, is that she can't go off half-cocked. In Season 2, they have to work together even more. In what ways are they forced to step up and strut their stuff in order to rescue Benedict and Number Two? Reynie, Sticky, Constance, and Kate were only beginning to tap into their potential. For a book fan, that makes it really fun and its own unique experience rather than just seeing a book on film, like you would be hearing a book on tape.
So, we like to continually defy the audience with plot twists that are not necessarily in the book and are little additions here and there. As a book fan, if everything happened in the film or TV show that happened in the books, it would be a boring experience. The characters are the most important part of these books, the integrity of those characters.
